(a) Research has shown that Kenyan value system today comprises of money, glamour, power and prestige. Explain the meaning of each of these 'values' and show the impact of this value system on our society.
(b) Money is a tool given to people by God to serve them. With relevant examples assess how this tool can have negative and positive impact on individual life and suggest ways on how to make the best use of it.
a. Money- - Money brings out the good / bad in us which becomes
an average of what kind of soceity we are / live in. It makes us
love each other, hate each other, envy each other, be jealous of
each other and basically notice each other.
- Money gives us power .. the ability to make decisions that affect
and impact on society. When you have money, you are powerful.
- Money gives us confidence and desire to work harder which makes
our society more awesome as the hard work translates into
betterment of the society. With money we can build our society
positively.
- Money or the lack of it creates classes in society so much that
people are then ranked based on how much wealth they have. Those
with money are ranked as being a higher class than those without
money.
Power and prestige
Its the aim power-empowering our note worthier aims and ensuring to observe a well defined code of conduct that’s well disciplined awareness orientated is paramount.
For regardless of how much ever we might be powerful, but if it lacks the creative intelligent competencies and sensible realization, then it might be unique for us, but not for others.
The point is we have to realize that all of life has been evolving in precise sequentialities to make us learn ever more better.
So then if we have learnt something valuable, it will tend to point us to focus on those essentialities of our lives that tend to count and matter more than anything else.
And as we keep on taking ever better care, we feel absolutely great at being productively efficient and ever passionately enthusiastic in all that we are ever being true worth’s all of life
Glamour
Glamour is the emotional aspect of duality which deludes, deceives, and creates false values and wrong desires. It entails wishing for apparent necessities with concomitant worries, anxieties, and cares. The emotions are deluded into cravings which, on a worldwide scale, can be thought of as 'the sum total of human ignorance, fear, and greed'. It is the result of the negative emotional focus of humanity and can be dissipated by the clear, inclusive thinking of those in whom the soul principle is awakening. It is 'illumined thinking' which helps to dissipate glamour.
Glamour refers to the world of emotional being and of desire, in which all forms dwell. It is this glamour which colours all our lives and produces false values, wrong desires, needless so-called necessities, our worries, anxieties and cares; but glamour is age-old, and has us in so close a grip that there seems little we can do. The wish life of people has been wrongly oriented and human desire has been turned outward to the material plane, thus producing the world of glamour in which we all habitually struggle. It is by far the most potent of our delusions or mistaken orientations.
b. Getting rich is basically a process, it doesn’t really matter how slow or fast the process may be, it is still a process. People who are getting rich are the ones who are basically working hard to earn their money, even if they’re regular employees or people who own businesses, they go through a process, sometimes there are struggles but then they manage to get over them and then when the times finally comes, all their hard work will be paid off because they’re becoming rich.
The first positive effect of having money is that you will be able to spend it on things that you both need and want. People basically work hard so that they could earn money and provide for themselves or for their families. That is because money is needed for shelter, clothing, and of course food, it is always used to pay for the bills. It is basically teaching people how to budget their money so that they will be able to have some money left to save. Budgeting is such a great way to actually be in control. Just like when people save, because they have earned their money, it is not just for spending, people are also learning to save their money for more important and emergency matters. The impact of money on the people’s minds are indeed on the good side when it comes to the idea of budgeting.
Another great effect of money on people is that they learn to share, especially if they have more than what they have. Sharing is just a great way to spread the goodness in humanity, especially in times of need. Money is just a tool for people to get what they want and what they need, yes, it is a fact that in order to get money, you have to work for it. However, there are some cases that some people are just not privileged enough to have a decent paying job or people who don’t have homes, so being compassionate is really needed in this society.
Unfortunately, if there are good effects, there are also bad ones. There are some people who’ve got the amount of money more than what they need. They have two choices in life, let them control themselves, or let money control them. In some cases, it is the latter. There are people who actually thinks highly of themselves just because they are a lot of zeros in his or her bank accounts. There are people who just couldn’t step on the ground and they also treat others like they’re not even human. Unfortunately, there actually really people who are like this. Arrogance has taken over their minds because of money, and it just never turns out so well.
In connection with the previous one, people who have a lot of money, tend to have a hard time dealing with people. You see, there are actually people who would do anything for money, so if you have a lot, there will be people out there who might pretend to be a good friend, but all they really want is your money. There are also people out there, who will judge you just because you have money. The conflict between the people around is just endless, unpredictable, and unstoppable.
Money shouldn’t make the world go round, so it must not take control of people’s lives. It has its good sides and bad sides, but it is always up to you which path you are going to choose.
