Expert Solution

The importance of religious, economic, or political factors in medieval development in the period 1000-1300 are as follows:

In the period of High Middle Ages, Europe experienced an unprecedented period of economic growth. There was increase in Romanesque and Gothic, cathedrals and churches throughout Europe. In this period, the increasing growth of trade led to more sophisticated commercial contracts. A lot of large-scale commercial networks emerged like, the one that linked the North and the Baltic Seas, which connected together the British Isles, Low Countries, northern Germany and southern Scandinavia.

The Church and royal governments were legislating to provide the peace, order, and harmony required by townspeople . One of the key visible features of expansion is the growth of towns. The dominant position of the Ottoman Empire in the eastern Mediterranean presented hindrance to trade for the Christian nations of the west and therefore they started looking for alternatives. Spanish and Portuguese explorers found new trade routes which were south of Africa to India, and across the Atlantic Ocean to America. The inventions in technology in this period – whether Arab or Chinese origin or unique European innovations had great influence on political and social developments, particularly, the printing press, gunpowder and the compass. Though it was primarily an attempt to revamp the classical languages, the humanist movement led to innovations within the fields of art, literature and science. The ideas of the Italian Renaissance were not fast enough to cross the Alps into northern Europe, but important artistic innovations were also made in the Low Countries. The spread of vernacular literature ultimately reached as far as Bohemia, and the Baltic, Slavic and Byzantine worlds.

The end of medieval drama came about due to various factors, like the weakening power of the Catholic Church, the reformation of Protestant and the banning on religious plays in many countries.
