Reading about virtualization can be difficult for some, as it appears to be a very complex process that is never really explain in full details. One reason is because there are so many configurations (hardware/software/combo) that can be used. Many of us use applications and systems that incorporate virtualization in one way or another, as virtualization is the backbone on which "the cloud" was created. If you have used services such as Dropbox, OneDrive, Google Drive, or iCloud, those systems are cloud technologies that are made available by virtualization. If you have taken many IT course here at Phoenix, at some point you have most likely used the virtualized Toolwire Desktop provided to access operating systems such as Linux or a Windows desktop to access to MS Project or MS Visio applications.
Write a response to the following in a minimum of 175 words.
Virtualization is the method which creates a software-based, or virtual, representation of something, such as virtual applications, servers, storage and networks. It is the single most effective way to reduce IT expenses while boosting efficiency and agility for all size businesses in other words we can say that Virtualization is the process of running a virtual instance of a computer system in a layer abstracted from the actual hardware. Most commonly, it refers to running multiple operating systems on a computer system simultaneously.
Virtualization can increase IT agility, flexibility and scalability while creating significant cost savings. Greater workload mobility, increased performance and availability of resources, automated operations – they’re all benefits of virtualization that make IT simpler to manage and less costly to own and operate. Additional benefits include:
Reduced capital and operating costs.
Minimized or eliminated downtime.
Increased IT productivity, efficiency, agility and responsiveness.
Faster provisioning of applications and resources.
Greater business continuity and disaster recovery.
Simplified data center management.
Availability of a true Software-Defined Data Center.
virtualization become almost necessary in today's business environment because With virtualization, you can instantly access nearly limitless computing resources which allow for faster and broader business capabilities. It also gets rid of haphazard IT rooms, cables, and bulky hardware; reducing your overall IT overhead as well as management costs. While many look at virtualization as the cloud, in reality the cloud is just a part of virtualization. The most important function of virtualization is the capability of running multiple operating systems and applications on a single computer or server. This means increased productivity achieved by fewer servers. Virtualization can usually improve overall application performance due to technology that can balance resources, and provide only what the user needs.
Other than the cost of hardware and the lack of effort required to virtualize software, businesses might decide to use virtualization because it Increase Server Efficiency, Improve Disaster Recovery Efforts, Increase Business Continuity and also If your company does any software development work, virtualization gives your small businesses the opportunity to lower costs by eliminating the need to fork out money for additional hardware.
