Ideal Foods is one of the largest biscuit manufacturers in the UK with brands such Jammie Dodgers and Wagon Wheels. In planning an off-site meeting for the finance team, the key was to keep motivation and energy levels high and to encourage more efficient team working across the group. Fresh Tracks put together a full day programme combining outdoor activities and energisers that integrated presentations from senior managers to reinforce some of the key messages from the conference. Our “Who’s in the Zoo?” session looked at the variety of characters that a team will usually comprise, whilst a treasure-hunt with photographic, collection and mental challenges got the teams up and out of their seats. Team tasks and problem-solving challenges based on co-operation and communication provided key learning points for the day, which concluded with a barbeque and prizes. Results: The day allowed individuals to find out a bit more about the dynamics of teams in general, as well as finding out about their own and others’ roles with a team in particular.
Questions
a)The points as mentioend below for building internal and external team dynamics and also different activities required by an effective team as a part of team dynamics are as follows:
1. The main motive to organize off site meeting for Finance team was to motivate and boost energy to higher level
2. And this will lead them to positivity towards work and company and will also encourage them to participate more in such type of activity.
3. This will also make them bond more with eachother as well as with other team members (i.e. with the larger group of people)
4. In addition to organizing external team meeting and presentation by senior managers i.e. a full day programme including the outdoor activities. This will create loads of positivety among the team member by boosting thier energy and knowing eachother more on a larger scale.
5. The main purpose of organizing the Who's is in the Zoo session, shows how different activities keeps respective teams come together as one team to solve the quest of treasure hunt with photographic, collecting it by finding the missing pieces as a group, mental challenge of placing it in order, force them all to get off from their respective seats.
b)The importance of enhancing communication in the team from a leader's perspective is simply based on corporation and communicating with one another to perform in a team task session and problem solving challenges together as a team/ group. As a Manager i will consider Who's in the Zoo session this will make me manage my team members and create great bonding among eachother and will make them more inclined towards task solving, better communication and work as a team in order to solve it. I myself strongly believe in the slogan as "United we stand and divided we fall" so team bonding is very necessary from my point of view in order to manage the team. Instead of thinking a co-worker your rivalry one should consider your company competition as your rivalry by working together as a team and taking your company to new level of heights (i.e. to the top) where no other company could reach. The success of company doesn't belong only to management but to each and every one who is working in a company including clearks too. Since each and everyone is part of the companies progress.
