Project management is the application of knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques to a broad range of activities in order to meet the requirements of the particular project. Project management knowledge and processes are best described in terms of their component processes. These main processes are Initiating, Planning, Executing and Controlling.
Project management in today’s era is widely recognized as among the most important work processes of any organization. Business entities have realized that most of their activities are project work and thus it is vital to use an efficient management process in order to carry out the task as per the plan in terms of time, quality and cost commitments.
Project management has many different options in the field when it comes to careers and futures. When choosing potential project management roles, or positions that I would consider as likely employment, once completing the Project Management Program I would choose a position in the construction field. Although construction is a general field to choose from, specifically I would want to work in the sustainable development/ urban planning sector of construction. Within the urban planning sustainable development part of the construction, there are three potential project management positions or roles that I would consider as an employment option after completing the Project Management Program
The first role I would consider would be a project management position in sustainable development. A project management position in this field would include overseeing the building of green communities, buildings, and other green spaces. In this position, I would be managing these different projects. This could be on a small or large scale and can include minimal or extensive research. The research could be on the area that is being developed or the different building regulations of that community or area. A project manager or sustainable development also includes the coordination’s with different legislators/ registrations, public hearings, and other stakeholders involved in that community
