For the following redox reactions arrange them in
order of E cell. What is the order from highest to lowest?
a)Sn(s)| Sn2+ (aq, 0.022M)|| Ag+(aq, 2.7M)|Ag(s)
b)Mg(s)| Mg2+(aq,2.74M)||Cu2+(aq,0.0033M) Cu(s)
c)Fe(s)|Fe3+(aq,0.0011M)||Fe3+(aq,2.33M)|Fe(s)
Sol :-
From the question we have given three cell reactions and their concentration values as follows,
Sn(s)| Sn2+ (aq, 0.022M)|| Ag+(aq, 2.7M)|Ag(s)
Mg(s)| Mg2+(aq,2.74M)||Cu2+(aq,0.0033M) Cu(s)
Fe(s)|Fe3+(aq,0.0011M)||Fe3+(aq,2.33M)|Fe(s)
From these values we have to find E cell order of the redox reactions as follows :-
Hence, the E cell order of the redox reactions (b)>(a)>(c).
