We develop many habits, attitudes, prejudices and fears through conditioning. A child who has received a painful injection from a doctor may develop a fear for all doctors. School subjects which depend upon habits like reading, writing, multiplication tables, spelling, historical dates, etc. is learnt through conditioned response. The child learns to speak by associating a particular word with a particular person or object, this is called the C. R. mechanism. Emotions like fear, hate, affection, etc. are also influenced by conditioning. Quite often, backwardness in a particular subject is due to unfortunate emotional conditioning. For example, a child’s dislike for a particular teacher or his method of teaching may be transferred to the subject he teaches. In eliminating anxiety from the students the classical conditioning is very helpful and it is randomly used by the teachers.
It is a common matter that the students are in anxiety before examination. They can not sleep well and they always think that they may get bad marks in the examination. They also think that they may get lower marks from the competitors. The anxiety level is sometimes so high that they become ill. They face great crisis and even for anxiety they can not concentrate in the study. It is a common problem. Some students face great problem and some students face the less anxiety. But they all face anxiety. It is caused for excessive stress. Stress can be turned into positivity. In such case they do well in the examination.
With the help of the classical conditioning such problems can be reduced well. In such case the children need to face some practice. They should be provided tests in various ways. They should be encouraged in critical thinking. In this scenario the SAT test works as classical conditioning. In this practice the students have to undergo various types of tests. With the help of the test they can solve the problems and it increases their level of understanding. If it is continued more and more before examination the students feels a kind of spontaneous response. A sense of confidence will grow in his mind and he will be able to develop his sense of understanding.
