1.Explain the working principal of the generators?
2. How can we transfer the oil to the power plant?
3. How we produce the electricity in Saudi Arabia?
4. Why we need to increase the voltage level?

Solutions

Expert Solution

1) generator works on faraday's law of electromagnetic inducation .when coil is rotated in a magnetic field by some mechanical means magnetic flux is changed through the coil and consequently emf is induced in the coil.

2)three techniques are there

a) conventional steam- Oil is burned to heat water to create steam to generate electricity.

b) combustion turbine- Oil is burned under preassure to produce hot exhaust gases which apin a turbine to generate electricity.

c) combined -cycle technology - Oil is first combusted in a combustion turbine, using the heated exhaust gases to generate electricity . After these exhaust gases are recovered, they heat water in a boiyler, creating steam to drive a second turbine.

3) electricity generation is 65% from oil,27%from natural gas,8% from steam . generation capacity is approximately 55GW. A looming energy shortage requires soudi arabia to increase its capacity.capacity is planned to be increased to 120GW by 2032.

4) As voltage level increases cost of insulation also increases so it's not economical to use such high voltage level. And also as voltage level increases danger increases ,so considering the safety factor 230v/220v supply is used in our houses,so distribution voltage level is less.

Can someone explain the calculations for cost basis and how to compute it? Herberger Oil & Gas Company paid $10 million for the drilling rights to a 1,000 acre tract of land near Midland, Texas. On the basis of several exploratory wells that had cost an aggregate of $400,000 to drill, petroleum engineers estimated that the tract of land might contain as much as 500,000 barrels of oil. 4 additional development wells were drilled at a cost of approximately $200,000...
