You have been engaged to testify in a case of employee fraud. You did not conduct the investigation, but you have a copy of a report from a competent investigator. What do you need to do to prepare for testimony?
Hi,
To prepare testimony, we need to prepare a format statement that the facts and evidences presented in the investigation report provided by us are true, accurate and relevant to the proved.
So we should take care of following area while verifying the report and giving our testimony:
1. The facts mentioned to the investigation team have been clearly stated and looks accurate in report
2. Relevance to the case is clear from the report
3. The source of the evidences have been included
4. Questionnaires filled by investigation team, all appropriate questions asked, and all the pertinent documents and data collected are part of investigation report which can be proved.
Once we are satisfied with the facts and evidences are stated accurately in the investigation report, we can testify the facts are as per our knowledge and relevant evidences are submitted to the investigation team by us. We are totally aware and not hiding anything.
Thanks for the question
