The answer to this question is relative.
The type of smart locks are
1. Card enabled
2. Fingerprint enabled
3. Bluetooth enabled
4. Fingerprint and key enabled
5. Password enabled
6. Voice-enabled
7. Remote control
All of them have their advantages and disadvantages
But first what you should look for in a smart lock
1. Easy it install
2. Budget-friendly
3. Easy to upgrade
4. Reliability
5. Durability
Two of the above are widely used
they are card enabled and fingerprint enabled
Advantage of card enabled smart locks
1. High level of security and controlling who has access and when
2. Eliminates the need for rekeying
3. Supports photo ID badge that also functions as the access credential
Disadvantage of card enabled smart locks
1. Invest money to make cards (need to invest to make new cards)
2. Anyone can enter the room with key card
Advantage of fingerprint enable smart locks
1. More secure than any other smart locks
2. Easy to manage information.
3. Allow or prevent the entry of some people
4. Delete the fingerprints to disallow entry
5. No need to change the locks
Disadvantage of fingerprint-enabled locks
1. Entry and delete fingerprints need to operate multiple steps.
2. The program is too much trouble, convenience is not enough.
3. Costlier than others smart locks.
In a situation where the employee is absent and other employees need to do his/ her work
Card enabled locks are good.
But I have a better solution for better security and reliability
2-way security lock
1st step – use a fingerprint to unlock the door
2nd step – if fingerprint didn’t match then password can be used (which should change each day and the IT department should have it)
