Think critically about the way in which you share information with the world through on-line environments. Do you cautiously share personal information? How much detail do you place about yourself into Facebook and other social networking sites? Do you use the same credit card for all online purchases? How often do you pirate music and media? Keeping this in mind, detail the various ways in which you could become a victim of as many forms of cybercrime as is possible

  • Cybercrime is definitely on a rise.We have so much personal information available on social networking sites,using credit cards for online shopping,net banking for transfering money etc.Al,ost everything is done through the internet online now.All of us have to extra cautious about how much information we share online.
  • Uploading your own personal pictures,pictures of children,personal email ids,phone numbers,addresses etc. on social networking sites like Facebook should be avoided.People can be subjected to harassments,cyber stalking and sreading illegal adult materials and even using child's pictures on adult sites.Child porn and trafficking is dark reality we all are facing.
  • Even using credit cards for online payments,and using frequent net banking features have lead to people being scammed hugely,being robbed off money from their accounts.Sharing your pin number on online sites is a huge risk which must be controlled.Some sites and even companies are responsible for hacking into users accounts and extorting money.Online gambling,forgeries etc. are also on a rise which people must avoid getting into.
  • Identity fraud is also something which happens when you share too much personal information online,hackers stealing identities including driving license,credit card details etc.to commit fraud,steal property and use your name for inappropriate services making you the victim.
  • Cyber stalking and bullying is also on a rise.We all have information available on social media sites which can be used and is used by stalkers inappropriately,damaging one's name and causing harassment.Anonymous hackers get access to email ids,social network profiles,instant messaging acoounts etc. which can be used against the person causing a harm to their reputation and life.
  • Keeping your software updated,not clicking on sites which appear fishy,enabling firewall system,,using different and strong passwords,not putting out too much personal information,using antivirus software and activating anti-spam blocking feature in emails are some of the ways to protect oneself from cyber crimes.
