QUESTION 1--Sponges play wide range functions in the ecosystem but yet they are always underrated. Sponges have many positive impacts on our ecosystem.

1-The skeleton of sponges is used for decoration, bathing, polishing, washing, scrubbing, etc.

2-They play a significant role in maintaining various ecosystem cycles like the Carbon cycle, nitrogen cycle, silica cycle and oxygen depletion cycle in water bodies.

3-They are responsible for bioerosion and reef formation;- they are primary eroders and their basic function is to break carbonate into simpler parts. Bioerosion is one of the earliest functions of the sponge.

4-They are the source of many biotechnology and pharmaceutical medicines.

5- They form a symbiotic association with other aquatic organisms.etc. Sponges provide food shelter and protection to a small aquatic organism like fish, Mollusca, crustaceans, etc.
