What makes an ideal interpersonal communicator?
Interpersonal communication involves exchanging information, feelings and messages. One can become a good interpersonal communicator by adopting a number of ways. Some of the strategies that enhance interpersonal communication are:
- Interpersonal communication should be seen as a two-way process in which there is an interaction between the communicators where there is opportunity for both to talk while the other listens when one talks.
- Nonverbal communication like use of gestures and facial expressions can largely influence interpersonal communication. These actions help to understand the emotional context in which the message has been said.
- People must ensure that there is less scope for noise in interpersonal communication. Noise is anything that distorts the message. Factors like not paying attention, not being interested and inappropriate body language can also be considered as noise.
- Giving feedback about the received messages help to understand if the messages have been received accurately. This feedback can be anything fron verbal feedback to even a feedback that is given through facial expressions.
