The smooth increase in muscle force is produced by the process of multiple motor unit summation.

Multiple motor unit summation or the motor unit recruitment is the process in which the number of motor units are increased .

When the number of motor units in a given time is increased it increases the force of the muscle , when the load is increased the more motor units are fired.

When there will be more motor units recruited more will be the muscle contraction.

When we use the maximum force then also not of 1/3rd of the motor units are used so this is done to increase the force.

And when they gets over new one are fired to maintain the muscle force.

And these motor units are recruited on the basis of the sizes

And how these are recruited this is the neuronal mechanism but still its controversial.

So the process by which the smooth increase in muscle force is increased is the multiple motor unit summation.
