What do you see as some of the organizational changes that have occurred as quality has matured into thetwenty-first century?
Quality has matured over the years but whatever happened in 20th and 21st century was truly remarkable in quality domain. Toyota production system and other japenese tools of quality has helped companies to improve their production without investing and just utilizing the available resources in more effective manner.
As a result of these steps/initiatives by companies,
organizational change has also happened. People have been asked to
become more proactive rather than reactive and hence helping in
improving quality. Continuous trainings for various tools and
techniques of quality has changed the mindset of employees towards
quality for better.
Managers have become more quaity oriented rather than just output
oriented. They are asking employees to continuously measure,
monitor and assess the effects of quality hence communication has
improved within organization between various levels, thus making
companies more flat in terms of hierarchy.
