Can you convert your body muscle fiber type to be an Olympic caliber sprinter athlete
Yes we can change the muscle fibre type to that of a sprinter or athletes.... There is three types of muscle fibre we have -
Type I or slow twitch fibres
Type IIx or fast twitch fibres
Type IIa or intermediate fibres blend between slow and fast fibres..
.. A fibre type can change with training... The amount of change is controlled by exposure time and intensity ie training more often causes more change....
Like , Long runs convert a greater percentage of your muscle fibers into slow-twitch fibers... And it caused slow twitch fibres to efficiently bulid their aerobic capabilities...
Type I fibres are used for long runs because they are less explosive and cause sustained movement ..
Whereas, Type IIx used for more explosive movements like sprinting...
tempo runs help improve the recruitment patterns of intermediate fibers with slow twitch fibers....
Traditional interval workouts like short repeats of 12 x 400 meters help recruit intermediate and fast twitch muscle fibers...
