Congratulations, you were just elected to the US Senate. Your first vote is on whether to repeal and replace Obamacare. Do you believe Obamacare should be repealed and replaced by Trumpcare? Why or why not?

Expert Solution

Obama care aimed at decreasing the US health spending which is highest in the world.Obama care requires Americans who do not receive health coverage by employers , or free health care by the government ,to buy coverage through government run web sites . The program offers subsidies to make such policies affordable and aims to reduce cost by giving health coverage to young people. But this program inspite of its popularity that it gives health coverage to people with pre existing diseases and allows young people to be under parents plan till 26, has been under controversy for premium hike.

Trump plan will preserve few elements of Obama care like health coverage to people with pre existing diseases and allowing young people to be under parents plan till the age of 26,but it will cover less people under insurance than Obamacare. The new plan is different as it removes penalty for the uninsured . It also plans to replace income based subsidies with age based tax credits.

I believe Obama care should be revoked and replaced by Trump care because even though the American Health Care Act will lead to 24 millions less Americans with health insurance, there will be shrink in the Federal budget deficit by $337 billion by 2026.This will surely make fiscal conservatives happy.
