Enter into the debate yourselves by providing your own opinion on whether or not correct grammar is always necessary. Consider the following questions as you construct your post: Do you feel that grammar is a reflection of intelligence? Could "bad" grammar possibly be a reflection of something else? (Discuss one of the intersecting privileges that Fabello argues reinforces our concept of "correct" grammar.) How do you feel when you notice improper grammar when someone is speaking and/or writing? Conversely, how do you feel when someone corrects your grammar? Are you appreciative, annoyed, etc? Do you feel that we should always practice good grammar, or do you believe that grammar is conditional and should only be heeded in certain scenarios? In other words, is it permissible to use "improper" grammar with friends or family and not permissible to use in school, on the job, etc?
I feel that grammar is not a reflection of intelligence, as intelligence refers to ones thinking power, imagination, and the ability to use one’s knowledge in problem solving, analyzing and creativity. It is the ability of using one’s mental efforts in adapting oneself in challenging or different situations, while grammar is just part of language, which is a sign of your good education or schooling and way of expression.
Bad grammar could possibly a reflection of absence of quality education or schooling, ignorance or disinterestedness towards the subject matter.
When I notice someone speaking or writing improper grammar, I tend to be open minded, neutral, and accepting, as every human being is capable of committing mistakes in their task performance, which can be improved with no difficulty and worry.
When someone corrects your grammar, how one will feel, depends upon the type of person, what that person means to us, and what opinions we hold for that person. If my teachers, friends, or parents whom I respect and have good rapport with them, corrects my grammar, I feel appreciative. But if a person, whom I know, but not close to him/her, and I hold less positive opinions about that person, corrects my grammar, I will feel ignorant of my mistakes. And if my friends tries to be grammar Nazi, who every time corrects my grammar, then I will feel little annoyed.
One should try to practice good grammar, as considering the changing scenario in recent times. Nowadays, English language has become important in various sectors, like schools, workplace, dealing with international counterparts, learning electronic tools, and expressing oneself and building a rapport. Thus it is significant to learn, as it is common language in which one can express to people of different background, but also it’s not the sign of intelligence.
