Identify two (2) factors that influence a species’ ability to disperse to follow its suitable climate if it shifts due to climate change
Dispersal is the process in which a species distributed over large area for his next generation. This happens at any instant in life time of species. But now days , the climate change is affecting the dispersal of the species. The factors which can affect the dispersal of the species have various types that is main types are either biotic or abiotic. Climate change is came into the abiotic type. This includes sunlight, wind flow , temperature, humidity, soil texture, geology, salinity, water pH, etc.
The main factor which are mostly influence the dispersal are temperature and wind flow . These factors affects both plant and animal dispersal. As we know that , the seeds of plants can disperse through the wind and water. But due to the temperature increases in the global atmosphere, the seeds which are floating or flying with either water or wind looses their genetic purity. Some of the plant seeds can be decomposed due lack of outer membrane which was affected by temperature change.
Also the wind flow affects the dispersal of species. Every species is depending on the wind flow direction and Earth magnetic field for navigation. Due to climate change, the velocities of wind flows are changing abruptly. This affects the navigation for animals.
