RNA interference (RNAi) is a molecular technique with great potential in silencing genes of clinical importance. Currently the efficacy of this approach is hampered by significant technical issues. Explain what these specific issues are and how they might be overcome.
RNA interference (RNAi) is a biological procecc in which RNA molecules inhibit gene expression or translation,by neutralizing targeted mRNA molecules. Two types of small RNA molecules are there : microRNA (miRNA) and small interfering RNA(siRNA) are central to RNA INTERFERENCE.It is a novel gene regulatory mechanism thst limits the transcript level by either suppressing transcription (TGS) or by activating a sequence specific RNA degradation process(PTGS/RNAi)
Double stranded RNA mediated interference is a simple and rapid method of silencing gene expression in range of organisms.the silencing of a gene is a consequence of degradation of RNA into short RNAs that activate ribonucleases to target homologous mRNA.the resulting phenotypes either are identical to those of genetic null mutants or resemble an allelic series of mutants.
One aspect of RNA silencing to consider is its possible off-target affects, toxicity and delivery methods.if RNA silencing is to become a conventional drug,it must first pass the typical ethical issues of Biomedicine.Using risk benefit analysis researchers can determine whether RNAsilencing conforms ethical ideologies such as nonmaleficience, benefecience, and autonomy. There is a risk of creating infection-competent viruses that could infect non consenting people. There is also a risk of affecting future generations based on these treatments.these two scenes,in respect to autonomy,is possible unethical. At this moment, unsafe delivery methods and unintended aspects of vector viruses add to argument against RNA silencing which causes for the hampering approach for eficacy of RNAi techniques.
RNA silencing is a quickly deveoping, bcs of that the ethical issues need to be discussed further.with the knowledge of general ethical principles,we must continously perform risk benefit analysys and through this we might be could overcome it.
