What would be the most nerve-wracking part about asking an individual for a letter of recommendation and how would you approach the situation?

It can be nerve- wracking to solicit a letter of reference from a faculty member. will they agree to write the letter? will it be a burden on their time?

First, we have to decide whom to ask. we will often need two or three recommenders. Letter writers should be sufficiently knowledgeable to comment on your abilities as a researcher, qualities as a colleague and how you meet specific criteria needed for the position. But different individuals may be better suited to write about different aspects of your record. When we have determined whom to ask, approach your prospective letter writers and ask if they would be willing to write you a strong letter of recommendation in support of a particukar application.
