Dr. Jenner's recommendation about 6th grade girls receiving the vaccine as part of their routine pediatric visits. Is it reasoning and benefiting the children?
What barriers might seem that may prohibit the implementation of a requirement for HPV vaccinations in schools?
How these barriers could be overcome?
Ans :
* HPV ( Human papilloma virus) vaccination is recommended for all preteens ( including girls and boys ) at age 11- 12 years , i.e. 6 th grade students. All preteens need HPV vaccination, so they are protected from HPV infection that can cause cancer later in Life.
So it's benifiting to the childrens.
* Barriers in implementation of vaccination of HPV in schools -
1. Systemic barriers -
a. Difficulties in vaccine storage for no. Of students
b. Reduce vaccine supply and distribution
c. Lack of a system to collect and consolidated vaccination status of each student
d. Missed opportunity by students due to absence
2. Provider barriers -
a . Poor knowledge of immunization indication and contraindications
b. Poor access to children's immunization records
c. Poor communication with school, parents
3. General barriers -
a. The lack of knowledge about immunization and vaccination
b. Fear about vaccine safety
c. Logistics problems that limits vaccination
d. Fear of side effects.
3. How we can overcome this barriers -
*Systemic barriers overcome by improving cold chain ,
- Increase production of vaccine according to students,
- Maintance of vaccine with maintaining cold chain.
- Proper storage and distribution of vaccine
- Maintaining records and report of vaccinated children and non vaccinated children
* Provider barriers overcome by -
- Proper training to healthcare workers about vaccination
- provide knowledge of indication and contraindications to healthcare providers
- proper maintenance of records and report
* General barriers overcome by -
- Giving proper information to teachers , parents and students about vaccine.
- Arrange meeting and provide health education
- Announcement of immunization clinic previously, so all children must be present
- Arrangements of vaccine for non vaccinated children in nearest subcenter.
