The most ethical decision that i have taken in last three years is to be responsible and empathic towards others.
I think we all are irresponsible and mean when we are kids but as you grow you start seeing and experiencing the difficulties of your life. You make mistakes and learn from them.
I am a doctor while im medical graduate school, you are not very sincere, you are kids and just amused of everything new around you. As those years pass and you reach internship and start interacting with patients and saw them suffering and how much they trust you and respect you. You start feeling really responsible towards your work and every relationship in your life.
I have become more empathic towards others and it makes my patients trust me and shate their problems with me so that i can help them.
I think now that decision of bringing this change in me was one of the best decisions. It is easy to be free minded and does not care for others but it takes a lot of work to be responsible of your actions and behaviour.
Ethical decision making model describles the decision taking process in the steps & i think somehow when we all make decisions and we follow those steps -
1. Defining problem - you change something about you when you find that this thing is not good for me whether it your behavior or habit. It is a problem. I considered that me being free mind about everything is not right, you can not inconsiderate to help people when it your job.
2. Seek assistance - when i knew that i need to change my behavior i asked my father how can i start being responsible or more considerate towards others.
3 . Look alternative - in my case the only alternative was to work on myself.
4. Evaluated alternative - no need in my case because i didn't had the alternative.
5. Make the decision - decide that this what you want and you bring that change in you no matter what .
6. Implementing decision- most difficult but important , after making the decision you can only make it happen after implementing and i did monitored myself on every step.
7. Evaluate the decision - whether the decision was righf ir wrong is very important. Did your decision bring any positive change in you. In my case, i improved significantly and it helped me as well, i feel more connected to patient's and i feel more happy.
I would make the same decision today if haven't made it then it is the most basic requirement of my profession and it helped me to become better. This decision IMPROVED MY PERSONALITY and my attitude towards other.
