Think of someone you have come to know well over the past few month or years. Did your initial impressions of this person match your current impressions? If yes, explain why it has same over the period of time and what factors have contributed in order to make this impression constant or unchanged. If not, explain how stereotypes and preconceived judgments and assumptions had influenced your initial impression of that person?
In the past few months, I met my elder sister's known friend in French learning classes. She is around 25 years old and we started attending French classes together thrice a week. She was a calm girl and was good to talk to.After few months, she started behaving restlessly and avoided coming to the classes,If she would attend any, she would talk rudely and shout randomly. On asking about the reason, she didn't reply. Then lately I came to know through my elder sister that her mother divorced her father and remarried. The girl became frustrated because her mother wouldn't let her meet his biological father.
Here I would mention that her behavior change was associated with the disturbances in her social and psychological domains. It is true to say that stereotypes and preconceived assumptions influenced my opinion about her.Sine she was my sister's friend ,so whatever she told me about her became my preconceived notions. These shaped my views in judging her and ultimately, this changed with time.
Good Luck!
