1- If a patient has low T3 and T4, and low TSH where is the disease, and what are the consequences?
If the lesion is at Hypothalamus/ Pituitary, then there is inadequate TSH ( Thyroid stimulating hormone), causing impaired stimulation of thyroid gland to produce T4and T3 ( that is low T4 and T3). This kind of hypothyroidism is known as Central Hypothyroidism.
Consequences of Central Hypothyroidism:
Due to low TSH, symptoms like fatigue, constipation, dry skin and weight gain occurs with other hypothyroidism symptoms like cold sensitivity, enlarged Thyroid, sexual dysfunction, slow heart rate, irregular uterine bleeding, sluggishness occurs.
