John and Mary are quarreling over who should have the use of a lift truck first while loading cartons into a truck for shipment. what steps would ypu take to settle this dispute?

Solutions

Expert Solution

In order to solve the dispute regarding the use of forklift truck for loading of cargo, it depends upon what type of cargo is to be moved by John or Mary either. Apart from this, other factors to be considered deciding the use of forklift includes:

1. Load limit of the truck - Calculate the maximum load limit of the truck and the weight of the cargo to be inserted for shipment by John and Mary.

2. Proper usage of the lift- This include proper insertion of the lift into the pallets and comply with the operating procedure.

3. Type of the cargo- In order to level the load into the truck, heavier cargo forms the base with lighter ones on top. This is done to ensure efficiency during transportation. Hence, whoever needs to put in the heavier cargo should use the forklift first.

4. Unit Load principle- Stuffing material in the truck in such a way that the material flow at the delivery end optimizes the supply chain.
