Expert Solution

Solar illumination is an important part of total energy balance of connection between the short run weather events and long run prediction of climate change. Atmospheric circulation is the cause of weather and is driven by energy received from the sun.

Solar illumination comes from the thermonuclear reactions inside the sun that provide the energy thrown into space. Surface sunspots, solar flares, and coronal mass (if ejected properly into earth, can damage the electricity system) ejections are sources of variations in solar illumination. Earth's ionosphere protects it from much of the sun's emissions. We still do not have any idea about the level of variation causing the earth. Solar flares often erupt near sunspots emitting very high temperature material into space. Solar flares give off high energy ultraviolet radiation and x-rays that cause Earth's upper atmosphere to warm. In February 1980, NASA launched the Solar Max satellite to study solar flares. The satellite sampled solar radiation until 1989 when the increasing radiation due to approaching sunspot maximum caused Earth's orbit to expand and capture the satellite, slowing it by friction until it reentered and burned in Earth's atmosphere.

The solar constant defines the amount of energy that reaches the outer limits of Earth's atmosphere. Scientists on the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change claims that the variation in the solar constant is negligible at 0.1%, but this statement seems to be contradictory. Critics contend that a higher variation means that variables in solar illumination may carry far greater impacts on Earth's climate than currently estimated.

Energy poverty is associated with a range of adverse consequences for people's health and well being with respiratory and cardiac illnesses, and mental health, exacerbated due to low temperatures. It gives the insights of people in poor countries suffering from many disease because of less consumption of energy and it happens due to lack of less technological driven energy services. The solutions are :

  • Banks need to increase funding for off-grid and mini-grid clean energy projects.
  • Multilateral development bank should commit to clearer reporting on energy access at the project level.
  • Banks should increase funding for energy access projects to account for at least 50 percent of energy portfolio financing until the regions affected have 100 percent energy access.

Green Savings Pty Ltd. makes mini solar panels. It also tenders to provide environmental solutions for large development sites such as new supermarkets and shopping plazas. Green Savings was formed out of the partnership of three sisters with different skills. Annie is an accountant, Beverley is the ‘creative brains’ and Cindy the ‘hands-on’ operational person. These three are named as the members of the board of directors. Their mother Dixie helps them out as well as she has a lot...

Explain why this is interesting. I was tasked to provide a summary of how reliable is an inverted curve in anticipating a recession; and to also discuss the variability of a yield curve and a subsequent recession. In researching the 10-year Treasury Yield, and the three-month Treasury Bill Rate and graphing it, the data was interesting. During periods of non-recession it seems both statistics are similar and related. I wasn’t aware until the reading the text, that the relationship between...

If low-income workers earned more money, their dependence on, and eligibility for, government benefits would decrease. The Center for American Progress reported in 2014 that raising the federal minimum wage by 6% to $10.10 would reduce spending on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, formerly known as food stamps) by 6% or $4.6 billion.
