How does the stigma associated with labelling impact issues related to self-fulfilling prophecies (inevitable deviant behavior was expected) and the amplification of offending (engaging in more and or worse deviancy) for youth in society?
Stigma associated with labelling impact issues related to self-fulfilling prophecies and the amplification of offending for youth in society in following ways:
(A) People such as friends. society members, parents, brothers / sisters if consistently attach negative labels to a person which are associated with deviant behaviors, then those labels affect the thought process of a person.
(B) A person will start to associate these labels as his identity as well as think about these deviant behaviors though till this moment he is not involved in any such activity or behavior.
(C)Chances are that person will make these labels and associated deviant behaviors as his goals in his lives.
(D) This will lead to self-fulfilling prophecies when that person will be involved in these deviant behaviors of the society.
(E) Even as the person has considered these behaviors as his goals so he will strive more in this wrong direction and amplify the quantum of his deviant activities.
(F) This happens because psychiatrically labeled individuals might internalize and apply stereotypes to themselves in psychologically harmful ways.
