The five different methods businesses can use to reduce shoplifting are:
1. Make use of security cameras in the shop and also make sure that the cameras are visible to all the people visiting the shop. This will create an awareness among the customers and they will not try to do anything like shoplifting. The shop should also cover every single corner in the shop using the cameras to avoid any loopholes.
2. Design the shop in such a way that the customers entering the shop will have to exit from the billing area where the security devices can be used to catch the shoplifters. The shop will also have the security guard standing at the same place and this will make it difficult for the shoplifters to get away with it.
3. Have a good number of sales reps in the shop who can always accommodate the customers and keep a close watch on all their activities. This will make the customer think that he is being watched by the sales reps and he will try to avoid shoplifting.
4. Keep the merchandise always away from the main gate. The customers should have an empty space when they enter the shop and be able to see all the products at some distance. If the shop is very crowded then the chances of shoplifting will be more. This will make them feel conscious and the workers can easily see what the customers are doing.
5. The expensive products must be tagged and secured in a good place that is visible to the store security. A camera should be used specifically to monitor the activities around these products in the shop. The shop will lose a lot of money if these products are shoplifted so more importance should be given to these.
