Assuming the role of an HR business partner, conduct an analysis of a department in your current workplace. If you are not currently working or are uncomfortable talking about internal issues in your current organization, feel free to refer to a prior organization/department with which you have experience. You may select any department; it does not have to be an HR department. Organizational and personal identities may be kept private by masking real names if you prefer. Include an introduction to the chosen organization so there is context to the organization. Address your department’s role and contribution to your organization’s strategies (possibly as a SWOT). Evaluate the recruiting strategies in your organization and what changes are needed. What comprehensive recruitment strategies would you include to encourage diversity in your organization from an organizational culture standpoint? How would you assess your organizational compensation structure in a way that is fair and equitable for all employees? What steps would you take around organizational culture and creating an ethical organizational culture? Explain why these recommendations would be effective. What role does mindfulness, dialogue, and collaboration have in this process of inclusion and equity? Add a one-page executive summary to the beginning of the document.

Executive summary

The company I had worked with is The Learning Doorways ( name changed). It’s an Ed-tech company. It is providing live classes to students through and online medium. The students don’t need to physically go to the teacher they will study through online medium. So basically I worked as a trainee in the sales department but I was more interested in the HR department due to some good selling skills got selected in the sales department. While working for the organization I got to know about the working culture of the startups and how they manage things and who are playing the key roles in the organization. While working there I came to know about some facts that the higher management is responsible for the decisions in the startups and not the departments because in the startup culture the higher management doesn’t want to cater any risk so they want all the important decisions by themselves and not by the respective departments. Even from the hiring strategies to exits everything is planned by the higher management itself. If the department is given equal opportunities then I believe that I can make the organization a wonderful place to work.

Introduction to the chosen organization

LEARNING DOORWAYS basically an Ed-tech firm that is funded by many investors and it is transforming the student life in many ways. They are providing live classes for high school students so that if the student is not able to clear the doubt in the class so he has the right medium to connect with the teacher personally and discuss his doubts. They believe that the students should be able to understand things rather than cramming so they provide personalized teachers to students to help them in their academics. The reason why they came into business because some students feel hesitant to ask the questions to the teacher so this organization helps them to understand things well.

Department’s role and contribution to the organization’s strategies

STRENGTHS:

Department has the power to control the employees working under that department.

Departments can suggest the proper strategies for higher management because they are the ultimate decision-makers.

WEAKNESS:

Not able to make decisions on their own they have to be dependent on the higher management for the decision regarding the sales strategies, hiring strategies, marketing strategies, and operation strategies.

OPPORTUNITIES:

By making their own working strategies the department can achieve well because they are very much aware of the work of their department. Let’s say if the employee wants to make a sale he should not be guided by the higher department about the strategies he needs to follow to make a sale. The employees themselves know how necessary it is for them to meet the targets.

THREAT:

If the departments will not take part in the decision making then there is no mean of making the strategies in the organization because ultimately the manages has to follow the strategies if the strategies are not made according to them then why would they involve. So higher management should make sure that decision making is done according to departments.

Recruiting strategies in your organization and what changes are needed are:

The recruitment strategies followed by this organization are:

· They hire the interns from the college on the very less pay and ask them to work as much as they can till the time they don’t, feel tired so basically by hiring the interns they tend to save the cost of hiring and by getting the interns on less pay and more work they want to save the cost on hiring the more experienced staff.

· Another recruitment strategy followed by the organization is that they do the bulk-hiring and the bulk firing so when they think that they are in need of staff so they hire people in bulk. But when they find that they are not able to generate income they tend to fire the employees by giving lame reasons.

· Another recruitment strategy followed by the company is that they online go for the campus recruitments only and hire only the fresher staff.

· Another recruitment strategy followed by the company is that they tend to hire technical background employees because they think that the technical person with the selling skill is more effective for the organization.

Changes that are required in the recruitment strategies are:

· The company needs to focus on experienced employees also because it can prove to be an experienced asset for the organization.

· Another change that the companies or the startups required never fire the employee without any mistake from the company because you never know is going to make how much revenue for the organization.

· Another change that is required is startup companies need to do the walk-in interviews also because most of the staff in the organization are recruited through walk-ins.

Organizational compensation structure should be fair and equitable for all employees

In our organization, the compensation was not satisfactory because the employee who was making the highest sale in the sales department and the employee who was doing the lowest sales in the department was getting the same compensation which was not equal. Sometimes employees feel de-motivated because if they are paid less not according to the skills they have then they end up leaving the job because of the compensation.

If the employee is achieving more than his/her targets then he should be paid incentive and the employee who is not able to complete his targets should be not paid the full compensation.

The steps that should be taken for creating an ethical organizational culture are:

· By making the policies according to the work required.

· By providing compensation according to the targets.

· By providing the employee with proper pieces of training for their development.

· By making sure that everyone is earning equally according to his talent and skills.

· By making sure that the employees are following the guidelines provided to them.

· By making sure that employees are not using any unethical ways to make sales in the organization.

· By making sure that employees are not involved in any unfair practices by manipulating customers

These recommendations would be effective because if employers want to make the organization a good place to work then they need to follow these few things that are discussed below that are:

· Equality among employees

· Proper training to employees

· Departments should be involved in decisions

· Higher management should not forcefully apply their policies to the organization.

· Decision making should be done involving each and every department knowing everyone’s point of view

· Any company can only achieve its goals if the employees are satisfied.

· Compensation plans should be made according to the work done.

· Incentive policy should be there in the sales department to make the employees motivated and to encourage them.
