You have been assigned as Coach to a new employee who has been recently appointed as an Assistant Manager in the Administration department.

Goal- The first thing i would do in my coaching is to set Goals to the new employee. These goals would be SMART goals that is Specific, Measurable, Acceptable, Realistic and Timely. For example- I would set goal to increase his adminstrative skills withing one month period of time. setting goals will help me to answer questions like Does the goals fit with his overall career objective or not? |
Reality- This step is very important because we analyze and look at real aspect of the situation. In this step, i would ask and analyze his strengths, skills, knowledge and issues he has to become administrative assistant manager. In this i would answer question like What is happening now (what, who, when, and how often)? What is the effect or result of this? |
Options- After setting goals and analyzing relaity, we find out options to solve the problem. We do brainstorming to come up with good options. for example- i want to improve his administrative skills so i have options like writing memos, letters, reports. I would ask him to prepare presentation and present infront of himself first then infront of people. Make mock policies and procedures as assistant administrative manager of a fake company. |
Will- Now this is the action step where we actually will try to achieve our goals. We will create a plan so that new employee will put his effforts to achieve that goal. This will include what will he do now, and when? What else will he do? How will he be motivated to work as great assistant manager. |
