disscuss the type of cells which form retinal pigment epithelium.
Retina is the thin tissue layer of eye present in the nervous coat of eye ball and recieves the light plays a important role in vision; present near optic nerve.
Retinal pigment epithelium is formed by the single layer of pigmented polarized cuboidal cells that seprates the photoreceptors from their underlying blood supply.
They also looked like hexagonal when view from above.
These are situated between the retina and choroid and considered as a part of retina.
Retina is seen to develop from retinal pigment epithelium of optic cup.
They plays a very important role in visual maintainence.
Retinal pigment epithelium have many function in maintainence of the retina useful for vision they helps in providing nutreint water and ions to retina and they are also helpful in maintaining the structural integrity of retina.
cuboidal cells are like cube cells are single layer which is present in ovaries , line of nephrons and part of eyes etc.
This epithelium is also important for immunity inside the retinal cells and distrubance of these cells results in retinal vision loss detachment etc.
so these were the functions and explanation of the retinal pigment epithelium and they are form by a single layer of cuboidal cells.
They forms the retina and maintains the visual activity as well.
