Q1. Explain how industrial Ethernet can be incorporated in DCS systems.

Q2. Explain in detail the self-diagnosis concepts of a DCS system.

Solutions

Expert Solution

1) Distributed Control system is a used to handle complex and large geographically distributed processes. It consists of different HMI( Human Machine Interface), programmable logic controllers, SCADA etc. To control and communicate all these we need industrial ethernet. Which is used to communicate between HMI, plc, from personal computer. Industrial ethernet which is used to control process in real time application, some ethernet uses MAC layer to provide low latency. Industrial ethernet used to provide rugged process in harsh environments.

2) controlling geographically large area is very crucial in process control automation. Due to increasing demands of real time application of various processes, self diagnosis and elimination of bugs are very important. Now as we know that DCS and SCADA uses computer monitor for controlling processes, which uses industrial ethernet for data communication and which has self error correcting technology. Due to real time and use of computer in DCS self diagnosis and eliminating redundancy is possible. InduatIndu ethernet, RS 485 modbus, and different communication protocol uses self error correcting techniques to eliminates redundancy which provides better connectivity and real time application possible without any problems.
