With reference to the biopsychosocial model of health, identify how inequalities could impact the wellbeing of an individual from your selected field of practice with 1,000 words.
The biopsychosocial model of health is an interconnected aspect
of biological, psychological, and social factors that define cause,
inception, and the result of a person's health problems. This
method has developed multiple therapies and programs to manage the
problems of people suffering from illness and enhance the quality
of their lives. It helps in understanding the health problems and
its therapies. Where this method has proven to be a great support
in understanding behavior of health of individuals, any kind of
ignorance or inequalities results in a severe impact on a person's
wellbeing keeping the biopsychosocial model of health.
When we think about inequality and wellbeing of a person, we
clearly understand that it does not go hand in hand. Any type of
inequality results in the direct influence on the health of an
individual. He may start feeling depressed, fear may arise in him
due to mistreatment, it may affect his mental health and also
physical health. This also brings fear of exposing to the social
environment with fear of being ridiculed in front of all or being
discriminated. A person must be happy from within to have good
health and a good life.
In my field of practice, where I work, there is dealing with
multiple people at same time. Doing multitasking and at the same
time attending many individuals. I have been a witness on many
occasions where I have seen lot of people insulting and abusing
their fellow members in public. I also have seen people providing
special attention to people who are their favorites and ignoring
people who are not. They keep it very clear of their choices and
their unequal behavior towards others.
This has resulted in drip in the performance of these individuals,
they being always tensed and in fear. They have been losing their
interest and focus on the work and try to avoid social gatherings
arranged by the organization. They have reduced intake of the food
and have developed mental and physical illness. I have noticed them
always ignoring and avoiding mingling in people around them.
Inequality has impacted their way of thinking, their health and
also their confidence.
