Please explain in very detail how HEALTH BEHAVIOURS AND LIFESTYLES impact on the health and wellbeing of a aboroginal people in Australia. Any link would be greatly appreciated.
The culture of the country is entirely dependent on the indigenous people. It is a well known fact that there is a wide difference or gap between aborginals or non indigenous Australians. It has been equally agreed by both Australian government as well as the United Nations that this gap is a general concern ,that needs to be addressed immediately.
There has always been great inequality prevalent between aborginal people and Australians ,basically in terms of getting primary health care as well as less developed health infrastructures in the indigenous communities. The unequal socio economic attitude towards the aborginals places them at a greater risk of exposure of health related disorders.
Due to lower socio economic status people are prone to smoking and high-risk behaviour.Furthermore illeteracy and poor education affects the well being of the aborginal people,as they further loses the ability to grasp the meaning of health information circulated in the society.Poor housing result in spread of communicable diseases.
Most aborginals has take up smoking or consume alcohol at risky levels to alleviate the stress, resulting in more and frequent deaths within the society.Within the last few years mental ilness within the community has increased to a drastic level. This high rates of mental health shows the prevalence of rising stress within the population.Hospitalization due to assault or self harm may also be indicative of stress
This can all have a strong impact on the immunity system, circulatory system and hormonal changesresulting in significant number of health problems, especially heart disease. There are now support communities to help in regaining back their lives through maintaining traditional cultures. With the help of local services ,there is now aborginal community controlled health services.
