Why are honesty, confidentiality, informed consent and codes of ethics essential components of a professional role?

Honesty is essential because it ensures that a professional fulfills his duty and responsibilities in a right way.

Confidentiality is important because it ensures that a professional does not disclose sensitive data to public.

Informed consent is essential because it reflects that the professional has agreed mutually with other party before starting any operations.

Code of ethics is essential because it helps to avoid conflict of interest.

What effect does it have on a profession when a member does not follow its high standards?

If a member does not follow these standards then the profession will be corrupted, it will lack morality and ethics and lead to chaos.

What effect could it have on society?

If a member does not follow the high standards of a profession, then this will destroy the reputation of not only profession but also the concerned organization in the eyes of the society; people who are part of the society, will lose faith in the profession and its system structure. This will lead to conflict of interest in the organization at all fronts and thus an atmosphere of corruption in the society and social structures related to it.
