Pam is a healthcare administration leader for a large network of hospitals and health service centers that is attempting to predict future healthcare utilization at their centers over the next 5 years. She obtains data regarding patient use across the hospital network and health service centers and projects forward over the next 5 years to determine which areas might experience continued growth. After applying her time series model, she is able to demonstrate that, indeed, the hospital network and health service centers will experience significant growth. As she prepares to share her results and findings with the board, she also considers advocating for the development of a new regional health service center to fill one of the areas that will experience the most growth according to her forecast projections.

As a current or future healthcare administration leader, you may be asked to assess strategic planning and decision making using time series analysis.

Reflect on time series models and forecasting. Think about how you might implement these methods for healthcare administration practice.

Time series analysis in Healthcare administration

For time series ananlysis of data we need ohave some historial data to apply various time series techniques like Moving Average ,Cumulative forecast,Exponential smoothing etc. As a hospital administrator You need to focus one lot of things to predict the future capacity required for better administration

In the following paragraph I am briefly explaining the detilas which you can consider for the assignment

Demand in Out patient department

Outdoor patient service or non emergency service always have a greater volume of people in an hospital .People come regularly to hospitals for their regular checkups and other normal diseases. So while conducting a time series analysis on that we first needto take tha past data for some period and apply some techniques to predict the 5 years futre data which will help us to plan the no of doctors to be appointed in Out Patrient department and also the number of service counters which to be increased in case there is a token sysytem to be implemnted to handle this much demand

Infratructure and equipment requirement in emergrncy services.

If we apply a time series analysis on a emergency patient service we can predict the increase in patient flow and also we can look after our facilities and doctor requirement in emergency services.

Area consideration

If we can calculate and predict the patient flow area wise for a perticular region that will help us in which area we need to focus to build one extra facility which will be beneficial for the public. The past data will help us to create a time series analysis of a zone to get the future data and the area which shows most increse in demand will be focussed for a new facility.

Forecasting will not only help in administration but also will help in providing better service to each patient which can increase the value.
