With regards to the respiratory system, what are the two main reasons that using a pool noodle (hollow, tube-shaped, foam pool float) to breathe under the surface of the water does not work?
Does it have to do with
1. collapse of alveoli or bronchioles due to high pressure underwater?
2. inability to do proper inspiration? if so, how exactly is inspiration not possible?
The human respiratory system is a series of biological functions related to oxygen intake and the expelling of carbon dioxide. The primary organs of the respiratory system include lungs that are responsible to exchange of gases whenever we breathe. The respiratory system involved different parts including nose, larynx, trachea, bronchi, bronchioles, and lungs. The function of the respiratory system is gas exchange breathing protection and sound production.
Two main reasons that utilizing a pool noodle to breathe under the water surface does not work because noodles help to protect from drowning in the water because they act as a cushion. If the pool noodles are sliced with a knife then a person may drone in the water. The reason why the pool model doesn't work is that they may get blocked with some kind of substance. Another reason for noodle would be that it may be not appropriate redesign so that the person could be able to breathe.
1. Collapsing of alveoli and bronchial due to high-pressure water is a reason for inhalation and exhalation. Surface tension inhibits the expansion of the alveoli due to which the pulmonary surfactant of the cell get mixed with water and surface tension.
2.The inability to perform proper inspiration if accessing the lung volumes and intake of short breath. Inspiration is the problem in which the pulmonary vessels are more prominent and important for the diagnosis of cardiac failure. Inspiration is the process in which the problem underwater is because of its surface tension. Their could be a blockage in the pool noodle in which the inspiration cannot be performed.
