These perceptions also vary with sociodemographic characteristics.
That is ADHD children's were considered more dangerous than adults with depression.
And likewise boys were also considered more dangerous compared to girls.
African American and Hispanics are considered more dangerous than those whites with depressions.
US public also believed in shame, and punishment of individuals with mental illness.
Legally the persons with mental illness have right to take their own decisions but in US for centuries they are not competent enough to make their own decisions.
