Design and submit a concept map on what you have learned. It should include concepts and connections between concepts including:
Female reproductive system:
Structures:
An female’s internal reproductive organs are the vagin.a uterus, fallopian tubes, cervix, and ovary.
External structures include the mons pubis, pudendal cleft, labia majora and minora, vulva, Bartholin’s gland, and the clitoris.
Functions:
The female reproductive system contains two main parts: the uterus,
which hosts the developing fetus, produces vaginal and uterine
secretions, and passes the anatomically male sperm through to the
fallopian tubes; and the ovaries, which produce the anatomically
female egg cells.
Its functions include producing female gametes called eggs, secreting female sex hormones (such as estrogen), providing a site for fertilization, gestating a fetus if fertilization occurs, giving birth to a baby, and breastfeeding a baby after birth.
Male reproductive system :
Structures:
The male reproductive system includes the peni.s, scrotu.m, testes, epididymis, vas deferens, prostate, and seminal vesicles. The peni.s and the urethra are part of the urinary and reproductive systems.
Functions : The organs of the male reproductive system are specialized for three primary functions: To produce, maintain, transport, and nourish sperm (the male reproductive cells), and protective fluid ( semen ). To discharge sperm within the female reproductive tract. To produce and secrete male sex hormones.
The testes in the scrotu.m produce the male gamete, sperm, which is ejaculated in seminal fluid by the peni.s. The female reproductive system primarily consists of internal organs. The female gamete, ovum, is produced in the ovaries and is released monthly to travel to the uterus via the Fallopian tubes.
