Melanie wants to add a direct quotation to her research paper about President Lincoln, from a book written by Joshua Wolf Shenk.
Choose the correct way to cite the quotation in APA style.
“Never had the conditions for a president-elect been so severe, and never had one seemed, by his credentials, so poorly prepared” (2005, Shenk, p. 172).

In “Politics and the English Language,” George Orwell writes that every scrupulous writer should ask himself four questions about a piece of work.
Which question is NOT one of the four?
How can I convince others to agree with me?
What is my purpose?
How can I best state my purpose?
What image can best exemplify my purpose?
Answer: "Never had the conditions for a President-elect been so severe, and never had someone seemed, by his credentials, so poorly prepared" (Shenk, 2005, p.172)
When we cite direct quotation in APA Style, we first mention the last name of the author, then year of publication and then page number. In this case we have last name of author as Shenk (Joshua Wolf Shenk) , year of publication is 2005 and page number is 172.
Answer: How can I convince others to agree with me?
This is not one of the four questions every scrupulous writer should ask himself according to George Orwell's book "Politics and the English language". Except this first one i.e., How can I convince others to agree with me, all are the questions which a scrupulous writer should ask himself. A writer can't possibly convince others with him always, and this must not be the concern for a writer anyways.
How can I convince others to agree with me is not one of the four questions.
