There are many internal and external assessment methods that an employer can use to evaluate the applicants. External assessment methods are those where the employer engages a consultancy or other external foreign organization to monitor the recruiting process because they give the unbiased opinion. In external assessment organization is hiring the candidates from the outside and the basic methods are screening, contigent and evaluation methods. Some of the external assessment methods which are commonly used:-

  • Cognitive ability test:- This test is used to measure the candidate's mental abilities .
  • Personality test:- These assessment methods are related to the candidate's personality like extraversion, openness, emotional stability etc.
  • Integrity test:- In this test recruiter measures attitudes and experiences that can be related to a person's honest, trust and their dependencies.

The least effective external assessment methods are:-

  • Screening method:- Screening method includes resumes, telephone screens and other biographical information. Sometimes these information can be fake as well so this is the reason we consider the screening methods as least effective.
  • Evaluation Method:- Some of the evaluation methods like polygraph tests, situational judgment tests.
