Based on various theories about the lifespan, how will your
understanding of the various stages of life (physically,
cognitively, and psychosocially) influence you in your future
career? Is there one theory that really sticks out to you?
Erik Erikson's eight stages of development suits me better and I always crosscheck whether I'm meeting the expectations or lagging behind. I have experienced all the 5 stages in my life, so I feel that I have successfully completed the previous stages.
I had an affectionate an supportive parenting and it helped me build trust on people around me. My parents allowed me to explore and experience things and that helped me to be more independent as I grew. I always initiated things in the school and I was not afraid of completing the tasks that were entrusted to me. I also learnt to accept corrections thus my third stage laid a strong foundation for my fourth stage where I was very busy in the school with my academic, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities which helped me to be knowledgeable as well as skilled. I have identified who I'm and what I want to do in my life after college. Physically, psychologically and cognitively, I have developed into a complete human being. I hope this will help me progress and lead a fruitful life in my next three stages Intimacy vs Isolation, Generativity Vs Stagnation and Ego Integrity vs Despair.
