from an organizational development perspective and the company’s investment in its employees, do you believe that encouraging employees to self-develop will have positive benefits internally and that the employees will feel motivated and valued by the company?
How would you see such initiative being welcomed by the staff, as basically, the organization will not have any input in the development process itself?
Yes! From a organizational development perspective and company'S investment in it's employees, encouraging employees to self-develop will have a positive benefits on multiple levels for business and simultaneously the motivation of the employees will also increase.
A business can motivate their staff and employees by providing them "Incentives", there are two type of Incentives, monetary incentives and non-monetary incentives.
In this case the business is not paying from their pocket so business is motivated, the staff do not have to train the employees so they are happy, and employees get to develop their skills so they get motivated by non-monetary incentives.
This initiative will be welcome by the staff for many reasons, firstly because they do not have to provide skill development training to the employees, secondly everyone gets benefit if business do better, and if employees do better then business do the same as well. Thirdly because there work load will decrease.
There is a high chance of positive result of this exercise but only setback that the business can face in this case is that sometimes employees resist to the change and that can lead to a downfall in their productivity.
