College and Universities can play an important role in building
culture of entrepreneurship in campus. Many cases are there where
college students have become entrepreneur doing college studies and
the forces behind them are the competitive and entrepreneurship
driven studies and curriculum. Universities to encourage the
culture of entrepreneurship can do following things-
- Focusing more on Real time case studies- case studies is an
effective teaching tool which gives the students a real time
situation to deal with. It gives them opportunity to think and
respond out of the box to real time business problems which helps
the in building a business oriented mind.
- Curriculum with link to Industry- Curriculum with business
challenges in colleges draws student’s attention and make them
think deeper on challenges and opportunities available to them.
They get good ideas of entrepreneurship from such curriculum which
drives their thoughts of being an entrepreneur.
- Contests and Quiz- University should actively arrange for
Business contests and quiz where students can exchange thoughts on
potential business ideas.
- Partnering with Business and exchange programs- College and
Universities partnering with Businesses can give real time business
exposure to students with internship opportunities as well as
exchange programs. Especially fro courses like MBA it is to be done
on regular basis to improve the practical knowledge of students on
business operations.
- External Lectures on Business- College can invite external
businesses men’s to share their business stories with students
which will motivate them and encourage them to become
entrepreneurs.
- Helping students financially with business ideas- Colleges and
Universities should go for financial support to students who have
great business ideas.
