In regards to healthcare:
1. Why is evidence about effects on cost so varied?
2. Why is evidence about effects on quality so varied?
3. Why is the evidence about effects on the patient experience so varied?
I remember someone telling me that the health care is more expensive in US because of the best health care available . Meaning the quality and innovation are better there.
But the health care system is now basically FEE-FOR-SERVICE system .more care is equal to more money and vice versa. Every person has a basic idea towards small diseases , like fever , stomach ache . But when we need health care for something we have no idea about , then effects on cost occurs mainly . We start to pay for more care we get , like more tests, checkups, middle men , more referred doctors, hospital stays, the staff we get, the facilities, the quality of treatment etc. So affordable high quality health care becomes difficult .
Apart from that the doctor visits , treatment during those visits, price of those treatments , all these things have their individual effect on cost . So basically we are PAYING FOR PERFORMANCE and good care hence the varied cost .
Thanks.
