Explain the mechanism of neural control of respiration.
Neural control big breathing.
There are two respiratory centres in the brain stem they are medulla oblongata &pons varoli.
Medulla respiy center contains ventral respiratory group for rhythm of the breath and dorsal respiratory group for inspiration of the diaphragm.
Pons varoli interacts with medulla oblongata for smooth respiration.Respiratory centre will send impulse to the muscles of lungs to triger inspiration or expiration via neurons. In inspiration they decend the diaphragm and intercostal muscles increase the volume of lungs so the pressure inside the lungs decreases and inspiration takes place. If any in the concentrations carbondioxide,H+ and oxygen signals transmits to the respiratory center and respective changes takes place.Peripheral chemoreceptors present bin the carotid and aortic bodies they detect chemical changes in the blood and this chemoreceptors send signals to respiratory centres and this centres cause required changes and maintain normal respiration.
