Meiosis is the kind of cell division which predominantly occurs in germcells. It is a 2 step division process which occurs in 2 phases meiosis 1 and meiosis 2. The meiosis results into formation of 4 haploid daughter nuclei.

The correct sequence of order of events in meiotic divisions is:

A) G2, prophase1, metaphase 1, anaphase1, telophase1

Before the actual cell division or meiotic process, a preparatory phase or interphase occurs where the cell prepares the necessary proteins and undergoes growth. In the interphase, G1 , S phase and G2 phase occurs. Where G1 is marked by cell growth and S by DNA synthesis.

The G2 phase is the second gap phase where cell prepares itself by synthesizing necessary proteins and eventually increases in size.

After G2 phase , meiosis 1 ocuurs which is followed by meiosis 2

The meiosis1 is the reductional division where homologous chromosomes are seperated. The 4 sequential major phases of meiosis 1 are prophase1, metaphase 1, anaphase1 and telophase1.

The prophase 1 of meiosis 1 is the largest stage where the chromosomes condense and the homologous chromosomes form bivalents. I.e. synapsis occurs. The crossing over occurs at this stage.

Metaphase 1 where spindle fibre formation occurs and spindle fibres connects at the centromere region. It aligns the chromosomes at the metaphasic plate i.e. at the center of the cell.

Anaphase1 where spindle fibres splits the bivalemt homologous chromosomes. The chromosomes moves to opposite poles during this phase.

Telophase1 where homologous chromosomes reaches the opposite poles of the cell. Nuclear membrane reforms and cytokinesis occurs to generate 2 daughter cells.

After meiosis1 the meiosis 2 occurs which is similar to mitotic division. The second meiotic phase seperates the sister chromatids. At the end of meiosis 2, 4 daughter nuclei are produced.
