Each of the organization designs is appropriate for some firms but not for others. Describe the characteristics that a firm using the U form should have. Then do the same for the H form, the M form, and the matrix design. For each item, explain the relationship between that set of characteristics and the choice of organization design.
U form organization Design:
It is also called Functional design. This type of design i for functional approach of driving the organization. Shown below:
This type of structure is mainly used where there is single product line such as Cement manufacturer, Cloth manufacturer etc. In this organization, coordination is very important.
H form organization Design:
It is also called Hybrid-Form. This type of design is for functional approach but for the organization having multiple products or division. It can be also designed for single product line company but with a presence in multi country. It's structure is shown below:
M form organization Design:
It is also called Divisional Design. This type of design is similar to H design but in this design the diversification is mainly in the same industry type. The organization which has vertical or Horizontal diversification can use this type of organization structure.It's structure is shown below:
Matrix form of organization Design:
This type of dsign has linking of departmetalization to functional division. So, in this case, same functional manpower has reporting to different product Manager as shown below:
