A common heart defect is the “d-Transposition of the Great Arteries” in which the pulmonary artery and the aorta are attached to the opposite ventricles. Veins attach correctly, only arteries are switched. Given what you know about how blood circulates, indicate specifically how blood flow would be different (trace a path of blood flow) and what specific types of health problems it would each cause for an individual with that defect. The causes of congenital heart defects, such as d-TGA, among most babies are unknown. Some babies have congenital heart defects because of changes in their genes or chromosomes. This defect may be diagnosed during pregnancy or soon after the baby is born. Surgery is required for all babies born with d-TGA,wich provides with the ultimate solution. Other procedures may be done before surgery in order to maintain, enlarge or create openings that will allow oxygen-rich blood to get out to the body and also increase the mixing of the blood which increases the scope of oxygenated blood to rich other body parts even in some amount.
